🧬 Family Lineage
Parents
Noor was a daughter of the legendary tigress Machli (T-16), the most iconic tiger in Ranthambore’s history. Along with her sister Krishna (T-19), Noor carried forward Machli’s genetic legacy into the next generation.
🐾 Offspring & Breeding History
Noor was one of Ranthambore’s most successful breeding tigresses, raising multiple litters in prime territory.
Known & Documented Cubs
- Noorie
- Noor’s most well-known cub
- Named and tracked independently
- Went on to establish territory and is often cited separately in Ranthambore tiger records
Other Cubs
- Noor had multiple additional cubs across different litters
- These cubs were not individually named in official records
- They are commonly referred to in forest documentation by year or litter, rather than personal names
During Noor’s era, not all cubs were named unless they became prominent residents or were separately tracked long-term. As a result, Noorie is the only cub with a widely recognised individual name.
Total Litters
- Noor raised multiple litters successfully
- Several of her cubs dispersed into Ranthambore and surrounding forest areas, contributing to population stability
🌿 Territory & Presence
Primary Zones
Noor primarily dominated Zone 6, with later influence extending into Zones 1 and 2 as territorial boundaries shifted.
Her long tenure in high-value habitat reflected her strength as a resident breeding tigress.
🐾 Character & Legacy
Noor was known for her strong maternal instincts, intelligence, and territorial confidence. While she was less photographed than Machli, her impact was arguably just as important — measured in surviving cubs rather than spectacle.
🐯 Conservation Significance
Noor represents a critical branch of Machli’s lineage.
While Krishna → Arrowhead became the most famous line, Noor → Noorie ensured the survival and spread of Machli’s genetics across other zones of Ranthambore.
Her legacy lives on quietly — through territory held, cubs raised, and forests stabilised.
